Session Five
Session Description
There is no better way to learn than to teach. After four weeks together, students will collaborate to teach a twenty-five minute lesson on a topic relevant to the course objective. This is a real session with the expectation that we will all learn something valuable from our fellow students and have the opportunity to work together to“get something done.”
Objectives
By the end of this session, students will be able to:
Apply the lessons from the previous sessions to the task of teaching
Demonstrate the ability to work as a team toward a common objective
Articulate a lesson on an important topic relevant to principled leadership
Practice their leadership style in a team environment
Assignment Parameters and Expectations
Create a fifteen-minute lesson drawing from a personality test of your choosing. Try to choose something unique and lesser known.
Send your TA a link to the personality test your group has selected one week before the presentation. They will send an email during the week containing each of the tests that need to be done so that the class can take your test.
The personality tests will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. We will inform you if the test you choose has already been selected by another group.
Bring your results from each of the tests to class on the day groups present.
Describe or demonstrate how this test relates to leadership or fits within a leadership framework.
The lesson may be delivered in any manner you choose.
Interaction is encouraged. (Get creative!)
Each group member must play an active, visible role.
Visual aids and other teaching devices are encouraged, but your presentation needs to be more than reading from a PowerPoint.
The insight and takeaways should be clear and meaningful.
We’re looking for a single memorable takeaway.
Outside resources are highly encouraged.
Depth is more meaningful than breadth.
Do not simply regurgitate a topic we have already covered. Expand upon it. Bring something new. Be engaging and significant.

What would you do with it if you could magically add an extra hour to every single day?
